My peregrine falcon kraft paper notebooks each have 60 pages (one notebook is lined, one is blank) and are a perfect size to put in your bag or even just in a pocket. They would make a lovely gift for a student, a bird enthusiast, or anyone who likes to jot things down! All my notebooks are decorated on the cover with hand-printed linocuts, making each one unique and special.

The weight of the paper in these notebooks is recommended for use with pencils, coloring pencils and regular ink pens. They are not ideal for paints, paint pens or watercolors.

Notebook Details:
> Set of two 4"x 5.5" recycled paper with sewn binding
> 60 lined pages and 60 blank pages
> Safe, non-toxic, vegetable oil-based inks
> Environmentally friendly, sustainable art
> Each notebook is hand-printed by me in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

> Every notebook is carefully printed by me using ink rollers and a small metal etching press
> I mix my own ink colors every time I print a batch of notebooks, so colors may vary very slightly
> Your notebook will look almost identical to the one in the photographs here but there may be tiny differences because every print is unique and extra special - this is the charm and appeal of block printmaking by hand!
> For more information about the linocut printmaking technique, read my FAQs on the Shipping and Policies page, and check out the About page for some images of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will my prints and cards be shipped?

I usually ship with the US Postal Service. Single cards ship standard First Class without tracking info (but you can upgrade to add tracking if desired). Multiple cards/larger prints are upgraded to First Class Package Service which comes with tracking information. An upgrade to Priority Mail (with tracking) is also available at checkout for all US orders.

I carefully package all prints and cards to try and best prevent any damage in transit. I use almost entirely recycled & recyclable materials as packaging, and try to avoid the use of plastics or bubble wrap. A typical order will arrive in a recycled cardboard mailer, with some recycled tissue paper for padding. I also use compostable plant-based protective sleeves when needed.

How long will it take to process my order?

Orders are typically dropped off at the post office within 1 business day (including Saturday). Sometimes it is 2 business days if there are lots of orders placed at the same time, or if customizations are required on your order.

For larger custom orders we can confirm ship dates before you place your order.

Can I stock your cards or prints in my store?

Yes! Please send me a message on Etsy or send an email to info@winterpicklepress.com and I can send you wholesale information and/or samples as required.

How do you make your cards and prints?

All my cards and prints are handmade using a technique called block printing. I use different types of linoleum blocks (or "plates") into which I carve my designs, so the prints resulting from this method are usually called linocuts, lino prints, or linoleum prints. I use special sharp carving tools to cut my design out of the lino block, and then using rollers (or "brayers"), I roll printing ink onto the surface of the block.

I then transfer the inked design onto paper or card using either my small etching press (the paper and block are pressed between a metal roller and a metal plate) or with the use of a printing baren which looks a lot like a large flat spoon.

Some designs require the use of multiple linoleum blocks and ink colors.

These are wonderful! I am gifting them to some of the long-standing members of our local falcon fledge watch. I'm sure they'll be a hit! Super fast shipping, thank you!
